So, it’s been 10 months since the release of the GoPro Hero 3+ version of the popular waterproof action camera and if historical release dates and rumours are anything to go by, the release of the GoPro Hero 4 will be mid October 2014.
What will the GoPro Hero 4 specs be?
Again, if rumours are to believed we’ll be looking at an increase in frame rates in all resolutions, so something like:-
4k @ 30fps
1080 @ 120fps
720 @ 240fps
The 4k frame rate increase is a big deal, upto now the Hero 3+ could only manage 15fps which isn’t really high enough for anything useful, so recording 4k at 30fps will transform the footage taken in 4k resolution.
These increases in spec will be mostly achievable because of the expected new 1GHz dual-core A9 ARM Cortex processor that controls the GoPro Hero 4 camera.
In addition to the increased frames rates, we’ll be expecting a few more features and improvments such as:-
Multi-exposure
HDR WDR tone-mapping
Electronic image stabilisation
Improved MCTF with advances sharpening
13MP stills
Better low-light performance
Remote viewfinder
Upload video/pictures via social media
Whatever the differences, the GoPro Hero 4 camera will no doubt be a massive success and take GoPro as a company to the next level after a recent IPO launch.
We can’t wait!!!
