The DJI Agras MG-1 is an agricultural octocopter designed to make plant protection and fertilization highly efficient and easily manageable. Integrated within the aircraft is an advanced flight controller, a reliable cooling system, a foldable frame-design, a large tank and a powerful propulsion system, and a dedicated remote controller specifically designed for the needs of users within the agricultural industry.

The powerful propulsion system enables the MG-1 to carry up to 10kg of liquid payloads, including pesticide and fertilizer. The combination of speed and power means that an area of 4,000-6,000 sq. meters can be covered in just 10 minutes, 7 to 10 acres per hour, or over 40 times more-efficient than manual spraying operations.

DJI OSMO Mic Holder / Attachment – How to mount a microphone to your OSMO

DJI OSMO Mic Holder / Attachment – How to mount a microphone to your OSMO

If you’re the lucky owner of the DJI OSMO Handheld 4k camera with 3-axis brushless Gimbal you’ll probably know the internal microphone isn’t that great, to put it mildly.

Fear not, we have a solution!  Firstly, you’ll need a good quality external microphone, something like the RODE VideoMicro is recommended by DJI and has great reviews from users who have used it.  Secondly, you’ll need a way of mounting the microphone and ideally a solution that doesn’t mean you have to remove the existing mobile phone holder.

The solution we have come up with can be found here for as little as £19.99 (excluding micrphone) >>> http://www.hobbymounts.co.uk/shop/Rode-Video-Micro-Mount-for-DJI-OSMO

What’s new with DJI Inspire 1 V2.0 (version 2) Quadcopter?

What’s new with DJI Inspire 1 V2.0 (version 2) Quadcopter?

So, DJI have announced the replacement to the original DJI Inspire 1 with the Inspire 1 V2.0 Version 2 Quadcopter but what’s different?

Well, DJI have changed the method of attaching the propellers (again) and they’ve also upgraded the motors from 350kv to 420kv versions.

DJI claim this won’t affect the flight time either way but should improve the responsiveness of the Inspire 1 V2.0.

It also has the latest incarnation of gimbal/camera mount and is ready to accept the new DJI X5 camera without the need to modify.

Oh, and it’s slightly more expensive than the original Inspire 1 @ £2519 accounting for the upgraded motors, prop attachments and the latest gimbal mount.

HUDL2 DJI GO App is not responding. Is your DJI Phantom 3 App shutting down?

HUDL2 DJI GO App is not responding.  Is your DJI Phantom 3 App shutting down?

If you’ve got the HUDL2 and are experiencing this problem and have the latest version of the DJI GO App and the latest Phantom 3 firmware v1.3.20.

The reported problem has been highlighted by a customer of ours (Dion Heap) who played around with some settings to prevent the DJI GO App crashing after starting/stopping video recording.

Here is Dions’ instructions to prevent the DJI GO App shutting down…

1) Install a file manager app such as “smart file manage” from the google android store.

2) Launch the app and select “ROOT” at the top

3) From the list that appears select “SDCARD” and then select “DJI”

4) When in the DJI folder select “dji.pilot” and then “DJI_RECORD”

5) In the DJI_RECORD folder delete all contents.

6)  All done so go ‘home’ back to your tablet desktop.

7) Connect up and launch the DJI Go app, go into settings and disable “cache locally when recording”.

The app will no longer lock up on opening and you can now record video without crashing the app.

Thanks to Dion for the tip.

DJI Inspire 1 ND Neutral Density Filters

DJI Inspire 1 ND Neutral Density Filters

DJI Inspire 1 ND Neutral Density Filter from SRP

If you’re serious about filming or photographing with your DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter then at some point you’ll probably need to use a filter of some description.

Neutral Density filters reduce or eliminate the effects of rolling shutter, such as the jello effect and prop blur.  In high vibration environments like a quadcopter platform, the video commonly appears to be shot through a bowl of clear jello.

An ND filter slows down the automatic shutter speed by reducing the amount of light that the camera detects.  This will significantly reduce the jello effect. ND filters come in different levels of light reduction.  Darker ND filters should be used on brighter days (i.e. ND8) and less dark ND filters are used on moderately bright days (i.e. ND4).  Experimenting with different filters in different light conditions is the best way to determine which filter is right.

Prop blur refers to the artifacts that commonly occur when filming a propeller or rotor using a stock camera.  The propeller often is fragmented and is not what’s seen by the operator in real life.  An ND filter used in these situations slows down the shutter speed and reduces or eliminates these artifacts.  Again, this reduction depends on the ND filter rating and the lighting conditions.  Experimentation is recommended to select the optimal ND filter.

At Hobby Mounts we stock a range of high quality ND filters from SRP (Snake River Prototyping) and other manufacturers like PolarPro.

What’s the difference between DJI Phantom 3 Advanced and Phantom 3 Professional?

PRE-ORDER YOURS HERE >>> http://www.hobbymounts.co.uk/shop/DJI-Phantom-3

So, you’re considering buying the new DJI Phantom 3 but don’t know whether you should choose the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced or the DJI Phantom 3 Professional?

DJI Phantom 3 Professional

DJI Phantom 3 Professional

The first difference is the price.  The Phantom 3 Advanced weighs in at £899 and the Phantom 3 Professional at £1159, the difference being £260.

So, now you know how much you’ll save or extra you’ll spend, let’s tell you the differences between each model (there’s not that many really) and what you get for your £260.

DJI Phantom 3 Advanced films in the following resolutions and frames rates:-

  • FHD: 1920x1080p 24/25/30/48/50/60
  • HD: 1280x720p 24/25/30/48/50/60

The DJI Phantom 3 Professional films in the following resolutions and frame rates:-

  • UHD: 4096x2160p 24/25, 3840x2160p 24/25/30
  • FHD: 1920x1080p 24/25/30/48/50/60
  • HD: 1280x720p 24/25/30/48/50/60

As you can see, the main differences here are that the Phantom 3 Professional will shoot video in 4k at 24/25fps and then 3840x2160p at 24/25/30fps whereas the Phantom 3 Advanced stops short at 1920x1080p at upto 60 frames per second.

So, all in all, unless you want or need a 4k solution you might be better off with the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced.

The only other minor difference between the two is the power of the Battery Charger.  For some reason the Phantom 3 Advanced Battery Charger is 57W and the Phantom 3 Professional is 100W, so expect quicker charge times from the Phantom 3 Professional.

DJI Inspire 1

DJI Inspire 1

DJI Inspire 1

If you’ve been following the teasers put out by DJI Innovations recently, you’ll know the release of the DJI Inspire 1 was a big deal.

The Inspire 1 now sits comfortable between the Phantom 2 range and the much more expensive S1000 system at just £2380 with a singular controller and £2749 with a 2nd controller to operate the Camera/Gimbal by another operator.

Spec levels of the DJI Inspire 1 are pretty impressive for a relatively small quadcopter and DJI has added their own 4k camera capable of recording at 30 frames per second.

Other great features of the DJI Inspire 1 are as follows:-

Motorised Carbon Fibre Arms which tilt upwards once airbourne so as not to obstruct the cameras view.

Auto take off and landing via the new comprehensive mobile/tablet App.

Vision Positioning System which allows control over height even when no GPS is available indoors using Optical Flow Technology.

Live HD view using an improved version of the Lightbridge system which is included in the price of your new DJI Inspire 1.

A claimed 18 minutes flying time.

Dynamic home point automatically refreshes the GPS home position of the Inspire 1 when you’re on the move.

The list of new features is even more extensive but if you want to be one of the first flyers to get your hands on the new DJI Inspire 1 Quadcopter then you can read more about the specs and features on our website and pre-order now for delivery sometime in December (date subject to change).
